The historic tower in Afghanistan "Minaret Of Jam"
Built in 1190 AD, and is located in western Afghanistan, 65-meter-high Minaret Jam is the second largest religious monument of its kind in the world. The tower is hidden in the mountains that reach heights of up to 2400 meters and is famous for his artwork which includes calligraphy, geometric patterns and beautifully written verses from the Qur'an.
The tower is like playing hide and seek, because for centuries the tower has remained forgotten until rediscovered in 1886 by Thomas Holdich. But do not become the world's attention before the Soviet war started and beautiful architecture is disconnected from the outside world. The tower is again a concern in 2002 when the list of UNESCO world heritage in danger.
Circular tower rests on an octagonal base, having two wooden balconies and the top is the lantern. Menaral was allegedly inspired directly from the Qutub Minar in Delhi, which was also built by Dynasty Ghurid. After Qutub Minar in Delhi, India, the Clock Tower is the second tallest brick tower in the world.
Made entirely of brick, the tower consists of a cylindrical body seven feet wide at the base of the octagon. there are two spiral staircase, accessed from a single door on the ground, providing access to two balconies on the lower stem and the middle to upper stem, to the six-vaulted space that lies between. The two towers of the shaft of the tower is structurally different. Extensive rootstock thick wall surrounds made of two spiral staircase in the center, rising to a height of thirty-eight feet, with an exterior diameter less than 9.7 meters at the base and 6 feet above.

On a narrow stem, in contrast, has a central void extends by six cross-dome resting on four internal support. Stairs here channeled into the narrow space between the walls and buttresses. Rich decoration of the tower, carried out with terracotta tiles and high relief, most of the last and analyzed in detail by Sourdel-Thomine. Upper shaft features three bands epigraphy - one under the dome and two below the second balcony - which contains the creed, the Al-Quran verses of Surah al-Saff and name Ghiyath al-Din, respectively. Two lower bands are separated by a thick band of decorative vase featuring a symbolic motif found in Ghazna palace of Mas'ud III and coins issued in Firuzkuh.
